Wildlife watching

Farmstead & Wild is the perfect base to explore 30 acres of wilding land with multiple biodiverse habitats from temperate rainforest ancient woodland running along the stream valley, to wet pasture, wood pasture and wild flower meadows.

Our current species list is available here - Species Record - we are delighted to regularly see yellowhammers and are a stronghold for redstarts and pied flycatchers as well as tawny and barn owls. The stream is home to White-clawed crayfish which in turn have attracted otters in the past.

A short walk takes you up to Llandefalle Common where there are always Skylarks and have been sightings of Short-eared Owl, Lapwing, Snipe, and Golden Plover. In Llaneglwys Wood to the north west are often Crossbill and Willow Tits have been semi-regularly spotted.
